- Strategise, promote, and develop sustainable policies for energy planning to ensure access to and availability of reliable energy for all residents in the State.
- Formulate and evaluate policies relating to energy and mineral resources in the State.
- Develop sustainable policies for both conventional and renewable power solutions.
- Collate power audit data to ensure energy planning and availability and collate data on minerals and their locations.
- Liaise with relevant Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and/or Organisations to provide modalities for initiatives within the energy and mineral resources sectors in the State, Federation as a whole and internationally.
- Monitor and regulate dredging, mining, and quarrying projects in the State.
- Coordinate and supervise Independent Power Projects and electricity installations in the State generally.
- Supervise and monitor the Oyo State Rural Electricity Board, Minerals Development Agency, and other relevant agencies.
- Data collation and assessment of petroleum storage tanks (surface and underground) facilities operating in the State and issuance of petroleum storage permits to such facilities.
- Monitor and regulate power, oil, and gas activities in the State.
- Any other duty as may be necessary for the implementation of its mandate.
